This is a new version of the painting for Becca, using a different abstract style.
First we see the under-painting, where I lay down large swaths of color, much of which (as you can see in the next pic) is then obliterated to a significant degree. The idea of under-painting is always the same: to provide that texture or richness of detail so that the next layer doesn’t just look like splotches of white. Next, with the white overlaid to finish it up. I masked off a few stripes, akin to Mondrian, as an experiment. The paint here verges on impasto. Finally, we add a caramel tint to the white.
